Full-Time Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for Mechanical Engineers to join the team at Delkor! The Mechanical Engineer works collaboratively with other professionals in Engineering, Assembly and Service on the design of capital equipment, meeting the highest standards of reliability, functionality, and operator friendliness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Process machine system orders with a complexity level of C1-C2
    • Match the appropriate assemblies or component parts to the machine order specifications.
    • Design custom component and change parts to meet the customer’s needs or specifications.
    • Create CAD assemblies, part models, detail drawings, and Bill of Materials for machine orders and verifies for accuracy.
    • Call for design review before releasing of assemblies.
    • Is self-motivated to adjust schedule to meet design and release deadlines.
    • Report machine or plant safety concerns to the Engineering Manager (New Product Development or Commercial Products) or Director of Engineering.
  • Assist the team of Mechanical Designers and Engineers to complete component assembly and machine design for Delkor’s entire line of Packaging Machinery and systems.
    • Work with SolidWorks, PDM and Micro Dynamics Navision to maintain all engineering data.
  • Maintain engineering machinery template files under the supervision of the machine Subject Matter Expert and/or Engineering Director.
  • Process engineering change orders.

Education and Experience

  • BSME plus zero to two years of experience or a two-year Associates Degree in Engineering plus five years of experience.
  • Formal training or job experience designing with SolidWorks or similar 3-D solid modeling package.

Technical Skills and Abilities

  • Able to read, understand, analyze and problem-solve mechanical drawings and engineering related software programs.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods, including performing extensive computer tasks.
  • Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull machine parts on the floor.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully operate basic hand tools and other detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading written plans and other documents.

Work Environment

  • The majority of duties are performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer.
  • The position also frequently performs functions on an assembly floor with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.
  • Occasional time spent traveling to customer sites.

Tools and Equipment

  • Use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator and other such equipment.
  • Use basic hand tools including as wrenches, pliers, screwdriver, voltmeter, etc.
