Organization Status:

The Sales Support Specialist is appointed by, receives their authority from and reports to the U.S. Director of Sales.

Position Description:

The Sales Support Specialist is responsible for direct sales, support (RM’s), and service functions within all of the Bettcher product portfolio. (emphasis on Bettcher and Grasselli products) to the meat, poultry, and fish market segments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties & responsibilities of the Sales Support Specialist include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

Direct Sales

Focus will be on direct sales to small and medium companies at all levels of decision making up to and including plant management in assigned sales area. Conduct normal sales and follow up calls with these contacts.
Utilize new prospect target lists, social media, industry forums, and networking to generate new business.
Document sales activities (important phone calls, emails, meetings, etc) in CRM system.
Meet and demonstrate to plant decision makers the inherent quality of Bettcher equipment. Aggressively promote our products and attack the competition to win over accounts.
Make direct end user calls taking every opportunity to consistently include “value added” selling.
Identify any non-standard applications or deliverables outside the scope of existing equipment capabilities and review with manager prior to proposal generation.
Support of Regional Managers

Assist in large equipment installations
When required help respond to customer requests/service in any given territory.
Ready and able to assist in sales functions such as demonstrations as needed.
Service

Be a field lead on service functions of Whizard, Grasselli, and Veritide product lines.
Assist as a “liaison” between service department and sales in field.
Product Development

Report, through the U.S. Sales Manager, any customer/prospective customer needs for further product development in the area of new or improved applications.
Policy Observance

Perform the customer field sales, installation, and service activities (Whizard/Grasselli/Veritide focused) with well-defined policies, directives, and procedures under the direct supervision of the Director of Sales.
Sales Goals

Travel and make personal sales calls within an assigned territory/region. Maintain account management at a high level in order to ensure optimal account penetration and adequate new business development.
Customer Training

Conduct training sessions with appropriate personnel to ensure proper maintenance of Bettcher/Grasselli/Veritide Equipment without impairment of the functional utilization of the products. Training should take place at a high enough level within the organization so the customer can sustain ongoing training themselves. Document training and attendees to Plant Management and Bettcher Industries.
Administration

File accurate and timely reports in CRM system of all customer contacts indicating all required information on all Equipment Product lines.
Communicate regularly to the US Sales Manager the status of the territory and of potential sales by product line.
Provide timely feedback to Bettcher Industries’ Marketing, Service, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing and Accounting departments, as required, to ensure complete customer satisfaction with safety and service.
Establish a personal file system to ensure proper follow-up in a timely fashion with customers, priority accounts, new leads and the US Sales Manager. Accomplished through CRM.
Maintain an updated account file listing all decision makers, reporting channels and any pertinent personal information about the key contacts. Accomplished through CRM.
Maintain an updated personal file on activities of customers, territorial or plant changes, products in current use and new product targets with assigned territory. Accomplished through CRM.
Maintain an updated file of all sales tools, product and industry information, and successful applications provided by all sources. Know how and when to use this information to close sales.
Competitive Products

Be constantly abreast of any changes in competitive efforts in the industry, reporting such changes in writing to the US Sales Manager.
Support Groups

Request through the US Sales Manager, the aid of all technical personnel, as necessary, to assist in sales presentations or customer inquiries.
Rely on and assist Service Department, as needed, for equipment or service problems encountered in the field.
Communications

Submit frequent and regular reports to the US Sales Manager including weekly itinerary, call reports, full evaluation of any tests, comparison studies, yield analysis and ROI reports done in the field, all accomplished through CRM.
Communicate descriptions of corrective action required (if any), activities performed or actions needed to accomplish our sales mission and any follow up required.
Communicate with other departments to share new applications and market intelligence.
Report on special projects as requested. Reports must be timely and in the appropriate format.
Personal Behavior & Development

Apply the Corporate Mission and approved sales techniques, skills and knowledge in such a manner to achieve high and professional personal corporate status in the eyes of the customer.
Update product line knowledge regularly by contact with the US Sales Manager, Product Manager, Equipment Technicians and regular contact with, and visits to the main office.
Maintain a quality personal and professional image through appearance, speech, and demeanor, that never detracts from the stature and reputation of the Company.

Constantly strive to improve selling and presentation skills through continuous self-improvement. Keep abreast of the future of our target markets through reading, seminars, trade shows, etc.
Conduct his activities within the policies of the Corporation and the laws of any and all countries he visits.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A 4-year degree in Animal or Meat Science (desired).
Without a degree will need 2+ years’ experience in meat/food processing industry
3-5 years sales experience in meat/food processing industry (desired).
Good knowledge of food processing (red meat, poultry). (desired)
Self-starter, driven to succeed. Doesn’t take “no” for an answer.
Plant floor IE experience/Retail meat experience a plus.
Proficiency in the use of computers including Excel, Word, Power-Point and the Internet.
Willing to travel in support of RM’s as needed (75%)
