DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)

 

Performs a variety of duties including shipping, receiving, packaging, pickups, deliveries, and inventory control for our internal and external customers.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):

* Responsible for shipping, receiving, distribution of Alfa Laval and customer equipment.

* Takes and stores photos of incoming and outgoing shipments.

* Unpacks and repacks received components in cardboard or wood containers that they were received in.

* Maintain databases of job/parts storage and also Movement Logs.

* Inventory received parts with correct jobs.

* Pick up &/or deliver customer equipment or parts going to vendors.

* Drive Company truck to pick up/ deliver loads to / from customer and suppliers. Must be able to properly secure the loads for transport.

* Responsible for inventory control maintains inventory of machinery and equipment and participates in physical inventories.

* Responsible for data entry verifies accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and maintains related records such as receiving reports, pictures and updating of electronic data bases.

* Plan, assemble, disassemble, fabricate or repair crates, boxes, cartons, pallets and other packaging containers of large or unusual size and shape, wraps, protects and packs machinery, equipment or other items for shipment domestically and internationally.

* Operates lift truck or other related equipment, transfer equipment to and from warehouses.

* Rigging and lifting of large/heavy items, trained to use straps, large crane hoists and other lifting equipment.

* Provides security and effective control of customer and Alfa Laval equipment, shop support, and movement of materials or equipment as required inside shop.

* Active participant in ALPS meetings.

ACTIVITIES THAT MAY NOT BE PERFORMED IN ALL SHOPS

* Disassemble customers’ equipment to prepare for cleaning.

*  Stage repair jobs and parts according to weekly schedule.

* Schedule shipments using authorized carriers

* Prepare shipping paperwork

* Perform daily checklist inspections

* Keep inventory of stored equipment

* Manage vendors and PO’s in Movex.

* Manage Amex P-card purchases and monthly accounting.

* Perform facility and equipment maintenance

 

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):

 

The Service Center Shipping & Receiving personnel reports to the Service Center Shop Supervisor.  Job responsibility includes overall support of high speed separator and decanter repairs for our internal and external customers.  Works effectively in a strong team environment; continually seeking ways to improve S&R process (continuous improvement). Cooperates with team leads (or designee) and must be able to interact in a professional manner with administrative staff and co-workers.

* Transactional accuracy (Performs computer functions accurately)

* Volume of shipping claims (Chesapeake)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED:

 

* Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:

High School degree or Equivalent.

* Type and Length of Experience:

Experience in Warehousing, Production or Physical Distribution

* Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:

* Ability to operate a forklift truck, hand pallet jacks and cranes.

* Ability to use carpentry hand and power tools, special Alfa Laval tools and work from specifications, blueprint measurements and shipping instructions.

* Ability to work independently.

* Must have a drive for attention to detail.

* Must be organized.

* Basic PC knowledge and MS office suite (clocking in and out, scanning bar codes taking photos)

 

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

* Must wear company supplied uniforms and maintain professional business presentation

* Valid Driver’s License

* Read and write and effectively communicate in the English language.

* Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. as required

OTHER  REQUIREMENTS (i.e., travel, signing of Non-Competition and/or Invention Agreements):

May be asked to travel to a customer’s facility to perform repair activity

Must sign Invention and Confidentiality agreement
