About the job
Come join our E&S Division in Richmond, Virginia as a Strategic Buyer! The Strategic Buyer is responsible for project purchases and ensuring E&S has component availability to meet installation and commissioning schedules.
As a part of the team, you will:
* Manage, drive and execute projects and supplier development activities, including but not limited to cost savings projects, commercial negotiations, supplier audits, supply chain optimization, Purchasing Initiatives and others.
* Work with suppliers on the implementation of Alfa Laval Purchasing standards. Up to 25% travel is a possibility.
* Act to have US purchasing activities in line with AL´s overall sourcing strategy for different sub commodity strategies.
* Manage/Drive purchasing sub projects related to Key Performance Indicators.
* Interface to local and global commodity groups and local purchase organizations plus manufacturing sites within the USA
* Drive cost reduction initiatives in coordination with both Global and Local Purchasing personnel and strategies.
* Coordinates and executes activities involved with procuring goods and services related to project business.
* Monitors and manages key suppliers for Key Performance Indicators and advances corrective action plans when deviation from acceptable performance levels occurs.
* Stay up to date with local and global market performances.
* Manage and participate in Supplier Development projects.
* Participate in proposing local suppliers for potential global agreements
* Assist Project Managers and Engineers in obtaining supplier quotes.
* Assist with processing purchase orders for internal and external suppliers as needed
What you know
* Associate’s Degree in Business
* Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
* Min 5 years’ experience in buying/planning/supplier negotiations in a manufacturing and/or project management environment
* Demonstrated interest and capability in Procurement/Purchasing
* Solid end to end supply chain understanding
* Superior analytical and mathematical/numeracy skills
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Open minded and creative in solution development
* Ability to work well within a team
* Excellent communication skills
* Knowledge of ERP system
* Intermediate/Advance skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
* Strong negotiating skills
* Strong skills in:
